FOR US COMPANIES

Working with an India-based team, answered before you ask.

Distance is a process problem, not a talent problem. This page covers the questions US engineering leaders actually ask us — time zones, contracts, IP, billing, screening and what happens when something goes wrong.

THE HONEST VERSION

What we will and will not
tell you on a website.

Specific commitments — overlap hours, notice periods, replacement terms — belong in your contract, not in marketing copy. Below is how each one works. Ask us and we will put the numbers for your engagement in writing.

How do the time zones actually work?

Every engagement fixes an overlap window with your working day before anyone starts, and it goes into the contract rather than being left to goodwill. Tell us the hours you need covered and we will tell you honestly whether we can staff them.

What happens live, and what happens in writing?

Standups, demos and decisions that need debate happen inside the overlap. Everything else — status, handovers, questions that can wait — is written down. Distributed delivery fails on communication far more often than on skill, so this is agreed in week one rather than discovered in week six.

How quickly can someone start?

It depends on the stack and the seniority, and we will give you a straight answer for your specific role rather than a marketing number. Ask us and we will tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.

How do you screen engineers?

Against the problems the role actually involves, not algorithm puzzles. You receive our screening notes alongside the resume, and you interview every candidate yourself. Nobody joins your team without your yes.

Who manages the team day to day?

On staff augmentation, you do — engineers work to your leads and your process. On a dedicated team or managed delivery, we provide engineering management and you set direction. The split is written down at contract stage so it is never ambiguous.

Who owns the code and the IP?

IP assignment is set out in the contract before any work begins. Ask us for the specific clause and we will send it — this is exactly the kind of thing you should never take on trust from a vendor website.

How does billing work?

We work on time and materials, monthly retainer, fixed scope arrangements. Currency, invoicing cadence and payment terms are agreed in writing before the engagement starts — ask and we will send you the specifics for your situation.

What if we need to scale down?

Every engagement carries a notice period, agreed at contract stage. We will tell you what it is before you sign rather than after you want to change something.

What if someone is not working out?

Replacing them is our responsibility, including the handover. Ask us for the specific replacement terms and we will put them in writing.

How is our data handled?

Device policy, network access and data handling are agreed as part of onboarding, and we will work to your security requirements. Ask us for specifics on anything your security review needs to see.

ONBOARDING

What the first week
actually looks like.

The goal of week one is not to look busy. It is to prove the process works by shipping something small and real.

  1. 1

    Before day one

Access, accounts, tooling and the overlap window agreed. A named reviewer on your side is confirmed.

  2. 2

    Day one

Introductions inside the overlap, walkthrough of the codebase and the current priorities.

  3. 3

    First week

A small, real piece of work shipped end to end — enough to test the process, not just the person.

  4. 4

    Ongoing

Your ceremonies, your board, your definition of done. Written status at an agreed cadence so you can check progress without a meeting.

WHY TEAMS DO THIS

The reasons that hold up.

We have deliberately not put a cost-saving percentage on this page. Rates depend on stack, seniority and engagement length, and a number invented for a website would be worthless to you. Ask and we will give you a real band for your role.

WHY TRUST A NEW FIRM

We are new.
So we carry the risk, not you.

Hexalabs is early. We would rather say that than imply a history we do not have — you would find out anyway, and it would cost us the engagement. Instead, here is what we commit to in writing so trying us costs you very little.

A two weeks paid pilot

Start with a two-week paid pilot on real work from your backlog. At the end you decide whether to continue, with no further obligation and no notice period to serve. You will have seen the code, the communication and the pace before committing to anything longer.

Free replacement in the first 30 days

If an engineer is not working out in the first 30 days, we replace them at our cost, including the handover. You do not pay twice for the same seat, and you do not run the hiring process again.

Two weeks notice, always

Engagements run on two weeks notice. If it is not working, you are not trapped in it. We would rather you left early than stayed unhappy and told people about it.

You interview everyone

You interview every engineer before they join, and nobody is placed without your yes. Our screening notes come with each profile so you can see what we assessed and judge it yourself.

These terms go into your contract, not just onto this page. Ask us for them in writing before you commit to anything.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.
Clear answers.
