Move useful models into monitored production systems.
Write down the decisions this person will own and the work they will deliver. Share those expectations with everyone involved in interviewing. A useful brief distinguishes what must be demonstrated on arrival from what can be learned after joining.
02 / LOOK FOR EVIDENCE
Make the assessment relevant.
SUGGESTED INTERVIEW EXERCISE
Outline model deployment, drift detection and a safe fallback.
Keep the exercise proportionate and tell the candidate what you are assessing. Ask about their reasoning, constraints and alternatives. Record evidence against agreed criteria before the interview panel compares impressions.

03 / JUDGEMENT OVER ASSUMPTIONS
Watch for this hiring trap.
Model training experience alone does not prove production ownership.
Separate missing evidence from negative evidence. A follow-up question may resolve uncertainty more fairly than an assumption. Keep the same core criteria across candidates while allowing different experiences to demonstrate the capability.
Agree the criteria, the evidence that would satisfy each one, and who owns the final decision. Write down what would change your mind, so a strong first impression cannot quietly replace the criteria.
Ask about reasoning rather than outcomes alone: the constraints, the alternatives considered, and the trade-off accepted. Record notes against each criterion while the conversation is still fresh.
Compare evidence before impressions. Where a panel disagrees, name the criterion in question and decide whether a further conversation would resolve it more fairly than an assumption would.
04 / MAKE THE NEXT STEP CLEAR
A brief worth sharing.
Before starting, capture the role purpose, expected outcomes, rate or salary parameters, working location and interview owners. Confirm how feedback will be collected and who makes the final decision.

No. These pages explain role scope, engagement models and hiring decisions. Confirm rates against your own budget and current market research. The role library is a reference, not a list of open positions.
